If you see someone removing a tree, and there is no visible tree permit, you can:

• Ask the neighbor or the firm doing the work to see the San Mateo County tree removal permit.
• If there is no permit, and work does not stop, call the County Sheriff.
• Ask to see the company’s license and copy information about the license as well as the name and address of the firm cutting down the tree
